Teatro Colon: Old and New: The Unity

Speranza
Buenos Aires

Speranza created a blog just for the OLD Colon, because he noted that most scholars (and public!) could care LESS (as he never) about the old thing which stood where the "Banca della Nazione Argentina" now stands! So beware:

For many, and for many years, to go to Buenos Ayres, or Bonaria, if you mustn't, was to check what was going on at the Teatro Colon. Or perhaps it was the other way round. Anyone exploring Buenos Ayres was bound to keep an eye on what was going on at the Colon.

Bonaria intends to merge with Speranza's more specific blogs on "Colon" -- so keep an eye!

The Colon Theatre and its satellites

Speranza

If you travel to Milano, you want to explore La Scala. If you go to Genoa, you want to explore the Carlo Felice. If you go to Bonaria, it's the "Colon Theatre". But a serious study of opera in Bonaria will show that there were MANY OTHER VENUES which were even more importantly, from the architecturally and artistic standpoint. Speranza opened his blog, "Teatro Colon and satellites", to explore this. The place when "Teatro Colon" is NOT in the focus of your agenda:

Welcome to "Italian Opera in Buenos Aires" -- then. "Bonaria" merges with "Teatro Colon and its satellites" for a study of the operatic tradition, in architectural and artistic terms. Join and share!
